Can You Really Unlock Your Hip Flexors? (E-Book Review)
As a writer, I spend most of my time glued to a chair, writing article after article. Writing is something that I love to do, but also something that puts my health at risk.
I didn’t know how risky sitting all day was until I came across Rick Kaselj and Mike Westerdal’s e-book, called “Unlock Your Hip Flexors“. The book includes vital information about how our muscles, particularly the psoas muscle, work. Without proper workout, your psoas muscle gets tighter, and movement becomes more uncomfortable. I’ve also tried a lot of workouts in the past decade: running, using the elliptical at the local gym, dumbbell exercises, pilates, and HIIT. Since the e-book tackled occupational risks and addressing them through exercise, I was interested to know more about it.
Unlock Your Hip Flexors was written by two renowned fitness experts: Rick Kaselj, a Kinesiologist and Injury Specialist who obtains his Masters of Science at the Cal U of Pennsylvania, and Mike Westerdal, the founder of CriticalBench website and a certified personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise. If I want to try a new workout, I have to make sure that they were designed by respected specialists in the fields of health and fitness. Fortunately, “Unlock Your Hip Flexors” is.
The book is a fairly easy read and is anchored on two things: the importance of the psoas muscle, and the sequential flow method. The psoas, which is the most powerful hip muscle, is vital to all our movements. It stabilizes our spine and gives us balance. The psoas muscle is responsible for a lot of our motor movements, including sitting, standing, twisting and bending. Sitting too long results in having a tighter and shorter psoas, which will then lead to knee and lower back pains. The book explains this well but I think they could have used more diagrams to clearly illustrate the processes described.
According to the authors, unlocking your hip flexors is possible through the sequential flow method. The method is composed of ten very simple workouts that you could incorporate into your daily life.
If you’ve tried various workouts (like me), you’ll find some of the recommended exercises familiar. But what makes the e-book valuable is that it puts these workouts together sequentially to make them more powerful and effective. I have been guilty of creating workouts based solely on individual exercises I’ve seen on Youtube. Let me tell you this: creating a personal workout without professional guidance does not work. The good think about “Unlocking Your Hip Flexors” is that the authors have done all the dirty work, and all you have to do is follow their instructions based on their findings. The workouts include dynamic stretching, fascia stretching, mobility exercises, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching.
I’ve fallen for e-book scams before. This e-book is 100% legit and something that I would truly recommend to anyone who works a desk job or as a driver. Click on this link to begin Unlocking Your Hip Flexors today!
